Thriller

An erotic thriller from the 90's, is a film that puts you at the edge of your seat. Suspects make you doubt your own thinking and unsure of who the killer is in this plot. One of my favorite thrillers of the 90's.
Michael Douglas stars as the lead detective, Nick Curran, who's investigating the gruesome murder of retired rockstar Johnny Boz. The murder is gruesome and committed in a heat of passion.
The police are led to investigate Boz's lover, Catherine Tremelle, played by Sharon Stone. Catherine is a writer of best-selling books and has a phycology degree. Catherine is the ultimate black cat. She is the ultimate main character! She has wealth, properties, a degree, a line of published books, and she's a blonde bombshell that attracts and lures men into her web!
The details of Johnny Boz's murder are similar to one of Catherine's books that she has previously published. The police are assuming that it is a copycat killer, someone obsessed with Catherine or Catherine herself.

Nick becomes the inspiration for Catherine's new book. Nick has been sober as he has recently been under investigation by Internal Affairs for shooting innocent civilians, while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. Catherine starts to play a cat and mouse game with Nick, enticing him to pick up the habit of indulging in Jack Daniels & cigarettes again. As Catherine acts out her fantasy of researching Nick's character for her new book, Nick begins to get caught up in a world where he doesn't know what to believe or who to believe.
Dr Beth Garner (Jeanne Tripplehorn), Nick's colleague by day and lover by night, becomes entangled in Catherine's plot. Catherine shares with Nick that she and Beth know each other from college and that Beth had a strange obsession with Catherine. Beth denies it but somehow Nick feels that Beth's story has some cracks in it and he leans more towards Catherine's version of events.
Catherine and Nick explore the strong chemistry between them, that takes them on a rapid road of ecstasy. Catherine sees the relationship as a disposable experience while Nick wants to grow a future with Catherine. We learn that Catherine has an emotional relationship with her lover and trusted longtime friend, Roxy.

I love the fashion, outfits and colour scheme in the movie. Most of the characters wore brown and white. The interior design of Catherine's beach house and the location of her beach house was my favorite.
I think that Catherine put Nick in a position to chase her in his masculine energy. She challenged him when he was in a vulnerable position in his life and career. In the start of the movie, we see Nick as the good cop, the hero wanting to catch the bad guys, but throughout the movie we see that Catherine challenges Nick to question who he really is as a detective and if he is really a good cop.
Overall, I would recommend this movie to others to watch, and I would watch it again.
